Lions, Tigers and Bears - Oh My! Part 1

Tuesday Morning came round and the sun is shining and there is me sitting drinking a lovely cup of coffee and I felt on edge. It wasn't a bad on edge but I was itching to do something; we had spent the few days over Easter doing bits but in truth the boys were fighting to any suggestion that was given them, even took an hour to convince them to go to the park on Monday.

So what should I do?

There was only one option: A surprise trip out! No suggestions to what we were doing just "we're going out and we need our coats and shoes on"

In the car, ready to go, put my music on and the first song set the mood for the day!

ELO and Mr. Blue Sky! I even heard my favourite words "Are you ready Daddy?" and that was it! Sun shine, driving on an adventure and us three lunatics singing loudly in the car!

The plan was to go to Wingham Wildlife Park down here in Kent. So just a prior warning this post is very photo heavy!!

The first enclosure that we came across were these European Wolves; they were such beautiful creatures. Although the male was incredibly weary of me; he would take a look and instantly, wearily, walk away. (Think it might have been the glasses)

Walked a little further and we got to enter the Flamingo enclosure; this was fantastic as you got to walk between them as they freely went a long with what they were doing. Although, as you can see by the third picture James wanted to sneak up and get as close as possible.

Next were this family of playful Otters: They were extremely playful with each other! Quite amusingly though the two on top of the hut started having a "Special Cuddle" which amused us adults and confused the kids!

The Meercats were great; as all the documentaries and shows say they are really adventurous and inquisitive! We were exceptionally lucky to have them come right up to the barrier. William very loudly shouted "Simples" which got a few laughs.

Time to assess where we were and what to go and see next:

William: "Let me just check where we are"
James: "What do you mean we're lost? I told you to stop and ask for directions!"
Next was the Reptile House: I, as well as the Boys, really loved this part! I am, even if I do say so myself, really pleased with some of the photos I got in there!

Beautiful pair of Iguanas sun bathing!

Not to sure of some of these next photos; between looking, reading, taking photos and keeping an eye on the Boys I got a little lost with the different species. But enjoy the photos I'll be back in a second with more running commentary!

This Photo above is by far my favourite of the day!

The Alligators were extremely cool! On one part you got to see them laying above water but when you walked around the corner and down a slop you got to see them swimming underneath!

William, especially, loved getting face to face with them!

Lots of friendly Chipmunks! And yes, William and James started doing the voices and quoting the films!

I found this a little unsettling but could see why others would enjoy it; if you look closely you will see a trail going above your heads. Inside the track were Rats running around!

Quoting William "This is what happens when you get face to face with an Alligator!"

This beautiful Red Panda decided to come out and give us a visit!

We were now half way round and decided that this was the perfect time to sit and eat our Lunch. James was exceptionally pleased to find a couple of roaming Chickens that wanted to come and join us! And apparently Chickens really love Cheese!

There was a fantastic seating area for us to have our lunch and once we had finished there was plenty for the boys to go and do! Thought is was a great time to let my own little animals to run wild and stretch their legs!

Have decided to split this post in two and continue after we finished playing! I did manage though to get this great photo of a Dad in the picnic play area! So anyone fancy giving me a caption for it?!

  6. Looks like loads of fun. I can't wait to take our tot to see some animals but the zoos here are not great, I think so we might wait for the more animal friendly ones back in the UK. Lovely photos!

  8. Funny post. Special cuddles *giggle* :) Love the wolves, they fascinate me since I saw a programme about a man who went to live with a wolf pack. Awww the chipmunks too, one of my faves.

    1. Lol thanks. Gotta love those special cuddles that the animals decided on having right in front of the boys lol.

I've seen different documentaries on people who live with wolves. They're such fascinating creatures! They looked so beautiful to watch. Thanks for commenting.

  11. Looks very much like my day today at our local wildlife park! It's so lovely taking them to places like this isn't it? There is so much to do and who doesn't like looking at animals?? Actually saying that, Zach much preferred the huge play areas today while we were happily gawping at the tigers hehe! Thanks so much for linking up with #twinklytuesday
